Welcome

Hey everyone welcome to Remedy where everyone is welcome tall, short, jock, cheerleader, cowgirl/boy ,nerd geek, band, drama etc. We believe that everyone is jacked up and has problems, so instead of hiding them or using them to position ourselves above each other we want be honest about who we are and that only Jesus can work at helping us through our problems and insecurities. We are called Remedy because of this and we know that Jesus is the only remedy that works Mark 2:17 “Jesus came to heal the sick and not the well, for the well have no need for a physician”. One of our core values is honesty; we try to be honest about having problems/insecurities and being sinners. The honesty keeps it real, we are a community wrestling through life together knowing that Christ love binds us together helping us know we are not alone in this crazy thing called life. We know we are not perfect and don’t want to pretend to be, if your interested in being loved and searching for answers in life such as what is my purpose, what does all this mean, why do I matter, then join us Wednesday nights from 7pm-8:30pm and Sunday Mornings 8:45am-10am as we wrestle through this together.     

 

Our Mission is to bring broken people to Jesus, we have adults and students dedicated to helping broken people bring other broken people to Jesus, our prayer is that you would join us.

When we try to bargin with Jesus it show that we think we have something to offer God that he needs. Mathew 19 shows a rich youn man offering obience in exchange for Heaven and falls short because he will not give up his money. We learn from this that we are sinners that need Jesus and can't do it on our own merit. Its by grace through faith alone. So we need to stop holding on to things that become equal to or greater than Jesus. Jesus gives us hope when he says "with man this is impossible but with God all things are possible" in Matt 19:26. Our prayer is that we would now that only God is good, we can't earn salvation and nothing should be equal to or grater than Jesus in our lives.

Does it make more sense to drive blind, or drive blind with someone who can see? It is easy to make decisions when seeing; however, the future is invisible to us. The point being that you have to see to know the whole truth, and naturally as human beings we have a mindset that we can control everything, including the future.

                Pastor Eric also addressed these questions:

How do you view God and life? Is God in your world, or are you in his?

                Proverbs 16:1 says, “The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.” From this we can understand that man can plan his own life but the fact remains that God gets the last word.

                Proverbs 16:2-3 says that God knows our heart, and by committing our lives to him, he will establish our steps. Living in a place where God is in our world is prideful. Eric also stated that the person who plans their own life is arrogant. God will deal with our pride and arrogance and humble us. Isaiah 47:11 says only God can save us from our wrath. There is nothing we can do to save ourselves from hell. It is only by God’s mercy and grace. Eric closed by saying, the most humbling act is to give up control. To submit.

What do you hate? Braden (Eric’s son) hates naps. Eric hates how some men do not provide for their family. He also hates when someone doesn’t do something only because “I don’t feel like it.” They believe their feelings dictate their ‘truth,’ which is extremely prideful; “I am the master and I feel like it should be.”

Proverbs 16:5 says that “Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord; Assuredly, he will not be unpunished.” Proverbs 16:18-19 : “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. It is better to be humble in spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoil with the proud.”

 Our pride tries to push God off His throne. We think we know more and that we can do better and we try to change who God is. We try to make him not all-powerful or not all-knowing.

 Eric’s mother, a good woman, remarried but the man soon left her. Eric had to wrestle, asking God, “Why would you let this happen? Why does she deserve this?” First of all, did God want that to happen? Also, does God control us like robots?

 When life doesn’t make sense, don’t change God to try and make sense of it. Rather, wrestle, pray.

 In Job 40 and Isaiah, God declares that ‘I, God, know everything and have created all and you cannot comprehend me.’

 We also often take credit for our abilities, beauty, and glory. But did we bring these about? God did, not us. Our pride tries to snatch glory from God. One of my favorite songs says “We are a vapor, You are eternal.” Let us be humble and ask God and others for help so we may become like children spiritually (Matthew 18:1-6). The actual sermon goes way deeper; I entreat you to listen to the truth.

Taking our doubts and insecurties to God and wrestling with them until we can submit to Him

Why is it difficult t submit to God? As humans, we do things that we want to do and don’t do all of the things that God wants us to do. We tend to make our own religion instead of Christianity. We do what we want and what we think is right instead of what God knows is right. What makes us right and God wrong? Submission starts with prayer.  Praying the same thing over and over again as if it should change God’s mind is not the way to pray. Have you ever wondered “why pray if God already knows?” Prayer is where our hearts submit to God.

    Your feelings can’t be your truth. When God wants something for you, it’s hard for you to do.  We make alternatives and do what we want because it’s easier. Are your feelings your guide? “I feel therefore I am” or “I feel so strongly about this so God must be wrong” are not sayings that people should live by.

    Trusting God is hard, let alone trusting is hard. Trust is earned. Praying bit by bit is a way of building a trust with God. Realizing that you can’t do it without God is submitting to him. By submitting you are saying “Okay God you win”. Even Jesus asked if there was any other way instead of dying on the cross, but he submitted and let his Father’s will be done. God invites you to wrestle and pray until you are broken. Through brokenness He becomes real, filling the void once you trust enough to let him in.
