Every Easter break the high school group goes to Mexico. God always works in amazing ways and we get to be a part of changing people’s lives. We also begin to grow closer during this trip. Then we come back from Mexico and everything goes back to the way it was. The question that Eric addressed was “how do we make this trip a reality every day?”
Eric compared our Mexico building process with reaching out to others. We start out with a dirt lot that we have to level and then pour a foundation on. From that foundation we work together to build the house. People who we need to reach are dirt lots that we have to help lay the foundation, Jesus, on. From there we, along with others, have to build the walls and the rest of the house. Not only do we need to work on the houses of people outside of church, we also have to be there for each other and help build our walls and houses.
If we are hungry to reach people and love people than we will do it (1 Peter 2:1-3). We are the stones that the house is made of and we need to build together, just like we did in Mexico. We have to be honest with each other and talk about what God is doing in our lives.
Who is your empty lot?
